AUCTION CATALOGER / PHOTOGRAPHER
McLaren Auction Services is seeking an enthusiastic, detail oriented Antique Inventory Cataloger and Photographer with a love of antiques who will be responsible for cataloging, capturing, and editing compelling and accurate representations of auction items.
JOB DESCRIPTION
-
Research and write catalog descriptions for various types of auction inventory including but not limited to: fine art, furniture, vintage & antique jewelry, oriental rugs, glassware, china, collectibles, etc.in an appealing and accurate manner

Stage and capture professional images of each auction lot to create a compelling representation of the merchandise

Edit images and select the highest quality shots to ensure true representation of sale items – as needed

Collaborate with internal teams to find missing items and/or correct inaccuracies such as catalog descriptions

Assist in communications with clients regarding the drop off or pick up of property. Responsible for following contract and consignment procedures when receiving client property

Understand, maintain and utilize the internal inventory system
-
Physically unpack property, tag property utilizing the internal inventory system, safely move property and properly store property.

Preview staff assistance: assist potential buyers during auction previews, as needed.

Auction staff assistance: assist potential buyers at live auction events held every three weeks on Thursday nights with occasional weekend auctions

Ensure the safe delivery of property to both buyers and consignors.

Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
YOUR CREDENTIALS
REQUIRED
-
High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Fluent in English
-
Knowledge of and proficient experience using digital cameras, product photography experience a plus
-
Experience and proficiency with digital photography software
-
Drive! This business is fast-paced and challenging. A self-starter is a must who can work independently while maintaining a team-player mentality and utilizing the vast expertise around you as appropriate.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle high-value property responsibly and respectfully

Passion for customer service and the desire to foster strong customer relations

Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Requires physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, reaching and grasping required of objects over 50 pounds.

Standing and walking for 6+ hours each day.

Walking on uneven surfaces, crouching, kneeling or crawling, grasping, squeezing and fine manipulation.

Flexibility: availability to work some nights, weekends and holidays

PREFERRED

Knowledge and passion of various forms of antiques, fine art, collectibles, etc.

Previous warehouse experience

Previous experience with inventory processing

Knowledge and proficiency in Auction Flex, an auction management software
